In the WorksKyra is currently developing her second play, The Lighthouse. Set at a family gathering in a Cape Cod beach house, Maya is meeting her boyfriend Jake’s family for the first time. This week will illuminate the cracks in their relationship and in Jake’s family dynamics. Can they keep going on as they always have been? And at what cost? Or will this gathering be the beginning of the end?
Past Projects
Shrink, She Said, Shrink Again explores the impact of medical fatphobia and pervasive diet culture, and the toll it can take. Set during the COVID-19 pandemic in NYC, Bella struggles amidst micro-aggressions from her roommates and unfair biases from her doctor. This short film was produced in 2021 by Ashes Artist Collective (Hannah Jade Vickery and Simone Bhagat).

The Woman in the Waves, which premiered at The Tank Theater in 2023, is Kyra’s first play. It follows SHE, a gender and sexuality columnist, as she tries to build and navigate a relationship with HE. As the two characters grow together throughout the relationship, they grapple with what it means to trust, be vulnerable, love, and cope with trauma as a couple in the modern world.
