Intimacy Direction & Coordination

  • As defined by IDC, “An intimacy director or coordinator is a choreographer, an advocate for actors, and a liaison between actors and production for scenes that involve nudity / hyper-exposed work, simulated sex acts, and/or intimate physical contact” in TV/ film (IC) or live performance (ID).

  • As an intimacy professional, Kyra advocates for actors’ boundaries and acts as a conduit for creative and courageous storytelling in intimate scenes.

She understands the unique challenges of performing and directing intimate scenes and feels passionately about empowering everyone on the team to do their best work.

When she’s on set or in rehearsal, she ensures that everyone has a clear framework for how these scenes go so that everything runs smoothly on the day of shooting/ throughout the rehearsal process.

With Kyra, you will get a communicative, collaborative, consent-driven atmosphere that sets the stage for storytelling with specificity, authenticity, and vibrancy.

  •  Cumulatively, Kyra has completed 50+ hours of training in intimacy direction & coordination, and she is currently working towards full certification with IDC pending 2026.

Here, she has been under the advisement of Broadway’s first intimacy director, Clare Warden (Slave Play, The Notebook, etc), Alicia Rodis (the in-house IC at HBO/ Max since 2018), Jessica Steinrock (Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere), and other brilliant intimacy professionals.

Kyra is also a trauma-informed coach with training in bystander intervention, conflict resolution, anti-racism and anti-harassment, and a certification in mental health first aid.

  • Recently, Kyra was the intimacy coordinator for a pilot/ short series for Lighthouse Ladies International. She has also intimacy coordinated various student films, including collaborations with Stonestreet Studios, The Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, and CUNY. • "Kyra made the process approachable, helping us navigate intimacy as a tool. Her guidance was essential in helping us get better performances and do so knowing that our cast was safe the entire time. Production can be fast-paced, tumultuous, and unpredictable. Kyra was a rock-steady resource, and our project would not have been the same without her immense contributions."

    —Cian Collins

  • "Such a lovely, warm, supportive presence on set. I know everyone really loved having her there. I’d LOVE to work together again in the future."
